Farheen Akter Bhuian (Nancy)

Farheen Akter Bhuian (Nancy) is a sociologist, researcher, educator, and writer interested in the places where society, identity, vulnerability, and human emotion intersect. With academic training in Sociology from the University of Dhaka and teaching experience at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), she is currently pursuing an MA in Sociology at Texas Tech University.
Her research interests include disability studies, disability and sexuality, inclusive education, climate vulnerability, and the social inequalities that shape everyday lives. Her work is grounded in a belief that sociology is not merely the study of society, but a way of looking closely at the structures, silences, and experiences that often remain unseen.
Writing, for her, is another way of looking. Under the name Farheen Akter Bhuian (Nancy), she writes poetry and reflective prose about identity, memory, desire, loneliness, relationships, and the philosophical tensions of being human. Her work moves between the analytical and the intimate—between the world as it is and the worlds we imagine.
